Pizza Pilgrims

After discovering these pizza gods at Street Feast, I knew I had to track down their restaurant and have another one pronto. I had dinner plans booked with Jane and she fancied Italian so it was the perfect opportunity to fill our bellies with carbs at Pizza Pilgrims.

Pizza Pilgrims

This small restaurant is on the corner of Dean Street and Carlisle Street, right in the heart of Soho
There’s a small spot upstairs to watch the world go by but most of the diners are sat downstairs. The restaurant has a cool, rustic, Italian vibe with chequered tablecloths, wooden benches, candles and the odd Godfather poster thrown in for good measure.

The night we went along was also the night of the 2nd England game so there was a huge TV screen setup for the action and the staff were representing with flags painted on their faces. We were offered some face paint too but politely declined.

Luckily we were tucked away in the corner, away from the TV!

The menu has a range of tasty pizzas on offer and some dangerously drinkable house wine served by the carafe so we sipped our drinks whilst be chatted pizza.

After much debate, Jane ordered the Aubergine Parmagiana and I had the Portobello Mushroon and Truffle.

The restaurant gets very busy but service is friendly and quick so the table turnaround is relatively speedy. That said, we were never put under any pressure to move on when we had finished. As they are thin based, Neapolitan style pizzas cooked in a traditional brick oven they are served quickly.

Pizza Pilgrims
Mine: Bianca base, portobello mushroom, fior di latte, parmesan, basil and truffle oil.

Pizza Pilgrims
Janes: Fior di latte, roasted aubergine, parmesan, cherry tomatoes and garlic.

The pizzas are mouth wateringly good and quite a messy affair, especially with the truffle oil on mine so be prepared for a messy face and hands. We took the easy route and attacked ours with knives and forks!

Bikini diet.....what bikini diet!?

After stealing a slice of Jane’s pizza I can confirm that they were both delicious. I’d even go as far to say that they are the best pizzas London has to offer! Bonus, they are cheap too and cost under £10 each which is a steal for Soho.

We both felt very content, munching our way through, drinking wine and discussing the many festivals that Jane is going to this summer. She’s much braver than me and loves a bit of mud, music and a tent! I’ll be happily watching Glastonbury from the comfort of my sofa this year whilst she’s knee deep.

Good luck little one!

Pizza Pilgrims is a must for all pizza lovers in London. Drop in and get yourself messy!
