Sipping at The Sampler

Friday, 7 November 2014

If, like me, you have no idea about wine then I’ve found a fun place for you to improve your knowledge. The Sampler on Upper Street is a unique wine shop, almost bar, with a great idea to get the masses drinking fine wines.

The Sampler

I met Robert and Sammy, we topped up our payment card, then got sipping.

We think its best to start them young if you want to be a true wine connoisseur so took this little one along for the ride.

The Sampler

The Sampler has wine dispensing machines which allow you to sip wine by the glass, half glass or tasting portion).

The great thing about this idea is that you can have a little taste of a £100 bottle of wine for a fraction of the cost to buy a whole bottle. Or if you want to buy a bottle as a present, which I needed to do,  then you can sample a few and make a well informed (slightly tipsy) decision).

Be careful with the buttons and only press them when you have a glass underneath or you’ll create a river of red wine. I blame the 5 sips before for that one!!

The staff aren't overly friendly but if you head down with friends then the concept is so fun that you can overlook this.

Roxy was desperate to get involved so we had to prise the glass from her hand and head off for dinner!

We didn't have far to go for dinner and crossed the road to Fish and Chip Co. The chatting got the better of me there and I didn't take any photos but the food was great so I'd highly recommend it.

p.s. the little one didn't have any sips I promise!
